Coaches and Rowers:
I am reaching out to ask for your assistance.
On July 18, at about 1:30 AM, our 2011 Vespoli 2x Matrix 31 Dark Green VUAVEQ174F011, named the “Masters Only” was stolen from the Sagamore boathouse in Oyster Bay, NY. (see attached .avi video file and .jpg file)
Two model “D” ergs were stolen as well.
As we do not “yet” know the identity of the thief, from our surveillance system we can tell that it is a man, over 6 foot, thin but very strong. We have attached a segment of the video surveillance. The individual has a distinct walk. A police report has been filed and the all video files have been turned over to them for further investigation.
We are assuming the thief is intending to train with a partner and race this boat.
As far as we can tell, no oars are missing leading us to believe that the person either owns their own oars, is training at a facility that provides access to oars, or has previously “acquired” two pairs of oars.
At this point, the boat may have had the name stripped from it or possibly even repainted. (after the hull number was ground away)
The Vespoli lettering and Matrix decal are in black. The name “Masters Only” is in white.
As anyone can imagine, we just want to get the boat back.
If you have any information that could help recover this boat, we would be very grateful to receive it.
Please forward this along as well if you think it will help.
Thank you in advance for any assistance you may be able to provide.
