This
photo was made on Beekman Beach at the Sagamore Open House
on May 19. In the photo SRA members gave introductory
sculling lessons to novice rowers, using SRA's training
shells, which are more stable than the Olympic shells
to which they may eventually graduate.
At
the Sagamore Open House, visitors had an opportunity to
warm up on ergometers which simulate the experience of
rowng on the water. These ergometers have become a standard
method of training with crew programs throughout the world.
On
a day when it was too windy to row, the Chaminade High
School crew settles for wind sprints on the beach.
