Joining the Sagamore Rowing Association (SRA)

The only basic prerequisite for the sport is the ability to swim. For safety reasons, all rowers must participate in a town or school program for training before being allowed to row. Sagamore Rowing Association has consistently kept dues low for high school students to encourage them to experience the sport.

Club Services Include:

  • Purchase of boats and equipment to lend to our member crews.
  • Provide launches and motors for start-up rowing programs.
  • Offer free coaching to beginners.
  • Establish and maintain the physical facilities.
  • Perform many other volunteer functions to help promote the sport and the quality of the marine environment in which we function.

High School and College rowers generally spend one to four years rowing in SRA sponsored programs. On a long-term basis, it is the adult membership of the organization that provides the ongoing support and management skills for the Association. Some of the student rowers return after graduation and join in carrying out the mission on a volunteer basis.

    • Rowers' and clubs' shells being transported on Sagamore trailers to and from regattas will share in the total cost of their transportation on a pro rata basis effective September 1, 2007.
